Much of the creative and colourful personality of Barcelona is mainly due to the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. Many architects around the world admires Gaudi’s work because of his unique and different style; this is his true legacy. Therefore, it is not surprising that his work has greatly influenced the architecture of the entire city of Barcelona.

In his long career, this revolutionary architect of modernism designed and built, with the support of Güell, his patron, some of the most creative buildings of Barcelona’s modernist architecture.

To do this, he used innovative ideas based on nature, something he considered the most elemental thing in the world. This element is the most outstanding in all his works, located mainly in the neighbourhood of Gracia, the cradle of modernism, a neighbourhood that you certainly cannot miss on your visit to Barcelona.

If you are thinking of visiting Barcelona this summer, relax and enjoy its atmosphere, good gastronomy and, above all, discover the works of Gaudí’s legacy after some of the culinary experiences that the city offers. Then do not wait any longer and do your reservation in some gastronomic hotel in Barcelona near the Gracia district and go to delight yourself with the works of the master Antoni Gaudí!

The works of Gaudí that you cannot lose

Sagrada Familia

This basilica is without a doubt the best-known building in Europe. It is estimate to be complete between 2025 and 2030. Although it remains unfinished, the temple is open to the public and is an unparallelled spectacle for all its visitors.

The basilica reflects the ingenuity and creativity of Gaudí. Its external appearance stands out for its decorative elements typical of Catalan modernism. Its interior, on the other hand, is much simpler and brighter and invites spiritual peace.

La Pedrera

The Casa Milà, popularly known as La Pedrera, reflects the idea that Gaudí had of what should be a house in the early twentieth century. However, Mrs. Mila was never a fan of this house; that is why people started contemptuously calling it La Pedrera. This original and elegant building is an indisputable example of the great artistic fullness of Gaudí, highlighted by its natural shapes, curves and the use of trencadís on the roof. The trencadís is a type of mosaic made from pieces of tiles, an element that identifies the Catalan architecture.

Park Güell

This was a request of Gaudi’s patron. In the beginning, it was going to be a luxury urbanisation in the middle of nature, but ended up becoming an original park that mixes modernism with nature.

These are just some of the many works of the great architect Gaudí present in the city, we recommend that you discover the others by yourself, since that is the best way to know his work, exploring every corner of the city.
