Key Facts
What can Synchroma gearbox provide?
In the 1950s, the all-synchronous transmission formed the technical basis for most ZF passenger car manual transmissions. However, it is continuously being further developed and is given its own name with the name "Synchroma". The most important innovation is the locking synchronization, which is used for the first time in the 4-speed manual transmission S4-15.

Synchromatic successes
In the 1950s, the all-synchromesh transmission forms the technical basis for most of ZF's passenger car manual transmissions. However, it is continuously developed further and receives its own designation with the name "Synchroma". The most important innovation is the lock-up synchronizer, which is used for the first time in the S4-15 4-speed manual transmission. The lock-up synchronization patented by ZF prevents the engagement of a gear as long as there are major speed differences between the gears.
